RAKKITHAKANDA ANCIENT MONASTERY
The access road to the monastery is
reached on the left side alohg the by-road to the left at the 15 km
post on the Wellawaya - Ella highway. The monastic site contains
exquisite paintings of the Kandyan period and is located in a scenic
environment bearing a historical and archaeological significance.
Above the monastery is the archaeological site of Kurullangala with
pre - historic paintings.
